Lancaster, Pennsylvania is located in the heart of  Pennsylvania Dutch Country. It is easily accessible from the DC, Philadelphia, and Central Jersey metro areas. Although you will likely want to spend most of your time in the hotel sewing, there are plenty of nearby shops, trails, and destinations to keep you (or family members) busy.

Lancaster County's tourism office hosts a variety of tours, including a Quilter's Itinerary, which might give you an idea of the different shops that sell both fabric and finished quilts in the area.

The tourism office includes a list of places to eat; we recommend checking out other sites such as Urbanspoon and Yelp as well. I personally am looking forward to the sweets and treats category, and am on a quest to find the best Amish cinnamon rolls.

Lancaster County is supposed to have excellent hiking and biking trails.

Somewhat unique to the area are the many covered bridges in Lancaster. More on covered bridges, or kissing bridges, here.

You might be interested in hitting a barn quilt or two on your way to the retreat.
